We have been busy in Room 4 over the past few months. There were a lot of exciting events happening in the lead up to Christmas, such as the Panto, which everyone enjoyed We also had our Christmas Concert. I think everyone would agree that all of their hard work paid off and the 2nd class boys put on a great show!
We were lucky enough to have some class trips as well. We visited the Botanic Gardens at Halloween time, where we learned all about magical plants. We also went on our Sponsored Walk around the locality to raise money for the school, and we walked across to Finglas Library to explore all of the wonderful books they have there. Brónagh from Music Generation introduced the boys to ukuleles. Everyone had a chance to play the ukulele for 3 weeks in November.
We are looking forward to more fun activities this term!
We have had a busy September in Room 4 and the boys have settled so well into 2nd class. We made the most out of the few sunny days so far, we did PE outside, went on a trip to the park and the class took part in a mini beast hunt in the school garden. We’ve done many other exciting activities such as researching Finglas on the map during iPad time, drawing self-portraits and reading lots of wonderful books during DEAR time. 2nd class are looking forward to starting Music Generation with Bronagh at the end of September also

We had a very busy December getting ready for Christmas, and preparing our Christmas show. We worked very hard to learn our Christmas songs just in time for the big day! We have been learning lots of new skills in our GAA classes over the past few weeks. We have been playing Gaelic football, and hurling, which we really enjoyed! In our Maths lessons, we have been working very hard on fractions, especially ½ and ¼. We enjoyed playing lots of Maths games using playing cards, cubes, and matching cards. Recently, we have learned about the famous artist ‘Kandinsky’ in our art lessons, and we created our own Valentine’s art taking inspiration from Kandinsky.
We have been very busy in Room 4 this term, learning about minibeasts, autumn, adjectives and Halloween! We went on a minibeast hunt and found lots of cool minibeasts living in our school grounds. We have been very busy learning all about autumn and we created our own autumn leaves in Art. We also really enjoyed making our pumpkins and we loved using the glitter! In Literacy, we have been learning about adjectives, and used adjectives to describe the pumpkin. We have also been very busy with our Maths games this term. We have been using cards and the dice to order numbers, find doubles, and to solve problems. We are having so much fun in 2nd Class!
