4th Class - Room 11

A Term Full of Fun, Learning and Creativity in Room 11!

Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
Our PE classes with Mikey from Healthy Kidz continue to be a highlight for everyone. We’ve also been lucky enough to get some Rugby training sessions from Kevin McCleery from Leinster Rugby. From developing our fitness to improving teamwork and coordination, these sessions are helping us stay active and energised.

Learning to Code
We’ve been diving into the world of coding with Scratch Jr. on the iPads. It’s been amazing to watch our ideas come to life as we create interactive stories and animations, all while building essential problem-solving skills which will benefit us across the curriculum.

History in Action
We worked in groups on history projects exploring different forms of transport. From researching and typing to printing, creating posters and presenting our findings, this project was a fantastic way to learn about the past while developing our teamwork and presentation skills.

Science in Action

In Science, we’ve been exploring air resistance through hands-on experiments with paper spinners and parachutes. It’s been fascinating to learn how forces work in the world around us.

A Festive Spirit
This Christmas, we spread some joy by creating care packages for nursing home residents in Co. Donegal. These packages included our handmade Christmas cards, homemade Christmas Tree decorations and pieces of artwork. It was wonderful knowing that our efforts brought smiles to others during the festive period.

Dress-Up Day Fun
One of the most memorable days this year was our dress-up day. The school was transformed into a colourful parade of costumes and the creativity on display was inspiring, especially from those who made their own costumes.

A Magical Outing
We had an unforgettable trip to the National Stadium to see the panto Beauty and the Beast. The performances, music and laughter made it a magical experience for all.

From Maths challenges to creative writing and science experiments, we’ve been giving it our all in every subject. It’s been wonderful to see everyone making such amazing progress and taking pride in their work.

A Busy and Exciting Start to 4th Class!

4th Class is back in full swing, and we’ve been hard at work settling into our routines and giving our best across all curricular areas. From Maths to Art, Gaeilge to SESE, we are keeping busy and making the most of every learning opportunity.

We’ve been lucky to have Mikey in from Healthy Kidz Ireland coordinating fun and engaging PE sessions in collaboration with Sláinte Care, helping us stay active while learning about the importance of health and well-being.

We have also been exploring our artistic side, creating beautiful concentric hand pieces and 3D hot air balloons.

With the weather on our side, we’ve been enjoying as many outdoor lessons as possible! From PE to SPHE, we’re making the most of the sunshine while continuing to learn.

In Maths, we’re diving into new topics, including learning how to use calculators in Addition. We’ve also been playing some exciting learning games with Ms. Kenny & Ms. McHugh to help consolidate and revise our knowledge—making Maths both fun and engaging!

A big focus in our class this is living by our main expectation: “If what you are doing interferes with learning, hurts someone, or prevents you from being your best self, you need to make a better choice.” This helps us create a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive.

We’re looking forward to all the exciting things still to come this year!

Term 3 in Room 11

This term has been a super enjoyable one for all the boys in Room 11. We have gotten up to lots of fun. We really enjoyed participating in the Quavers to Quadratics program where we studied how we can see sound. We also got to play lots of different instruments. We also had our Active Schools Week. We especially enjoyed the Soccer Blitz and Sports Day. To end the week, we had a visit from the ice-cream man and we each enjoyed an ice-cream outside.

Term 2 in Room 11

Measurement Fun

The boys in Room 11 have been working very hard in their Math lessons lately. We have been learning all about Length and we used our rulers to measure some classroom items such as our books, copies, the height of our class library, the length of the notice board and the height of our chairs.

Friendship Week

Last week we celebrated Friendship week. We enjoyed lots of different activities such as stories, Friendship Fitness, Internet Safety Seminar, fun games in the hall and an art competition. We especially enjoyed the games in the hall we had lots of fun. Congratulations to Kamil for winning the art competition from 4th class.

Pancake Tuesday

The boys used their Math knowledge to measure our ingredients and mix them to create a smooth pancake batter. They then used the hot plate to cook their pancakes. Finally, they added their toppings and enjoyed! We had a great day to get ready for the beginning of Lent and our Mid-Term Break.

Finglas Library 7th October 2023

On Friday morning, the boys from Ms. Fitzgerald’s class ventured over to see the brand-new library in Finglas. We got to look around and read different books. We also got to colour pictures of some footballers. We all signed up for Library cards and each borrowed a book. We learned about the rules in the library and how we can borrow lots of books at one time. The boys showed excellent behavior throughout. We can’t wait to go back again in two weeks’ time to get new books!
