The 4th class boys in Room 16 have got off to a flying start! We have been busy settling into our new routines and trying our best across all subjects.
In Gaeilge, the boys have been focusing on ‘Mé Féin’ and have engaged really well in activities to help develop their oral Irish, including Deir Ó Ghrádaigh agus Ceann, Gualainn, Glúin ‘s Cos!
The boys have really enjoyed expressing themselves through Art, by creating ‘The Real Me’ self-portraits, which are very impressive. As the first month of school comes to an end, the boys used their knowledge of cool and warm tones, to create ‘September Sunsets’ using paint.
The fantastic weather has allowed us to enjoy our PE lessons outside in the sunshine! In addition, the boys are thoroughly enjoying their energetic and engaging PE sessions with Mikey from Healthy Kidz every Tuesday.
Gaelic training has started at lunch time, much to the children’s delight. Several of the boys travelled to Balbriggan, for their first match of the year, where they put on a skilful display.
We are all really excited for what the year ahead has in store!
The 4th class boys in Room 16 have been busy over the last couple of months! The boys took part in the Junior Achievement Program lead by a volunteer from General Motors. In groups, the boys created companies and pitched their ideas to the whole class. The final step of the process was our trip to the General Motors office where the boys took part in a Dragon’s Den event. The boys pitched their ideas to the executives of the company. Myself and Ms. Kenny were so impressed and proud of how the boys conducting themselves on the day.
The obvious highlight of the last few months was the school tour to Funtasia in Drogheda. The boys had a brilliant time! The boys played bowling, had a disco lunch and finished with over two hours in the waterpark. Needless to say, it was a quiet bus journey home!

The boys had a visit from the Big Man himself which was very exciting. We also had the trip to the Panto which was a brilliant day out for the entire school. The boys also selected a number of songs to sing at the Senior Corridor Christmas Concert. Many of the teachers commented on how well the boys sang. All of the boys also made Christmas cards for the residents of a Dublin nursing home. Anne-Marie O’Hare kindly delivered the cards for us. The residents were delighted with their cards.
Post-Christmas, the boys have made a brilliant start to the year. The highlight has undoubtedly been the swimming lessons in the Finglas Pool. The boys have been excellent when it comes to swimming and all that’s involved in getting there etc. Our class novel at the moment is The Last Bear which the boys are really enjoying.
