It has been a busy and exciting start to the school year for our class! During Term 1, we have been settling into our new routines, getting to know one another and taking part in lots of fun and engaging activities. We have been very creative in Art, completing two fantastic art projects. Our colourful self-portrait work and our autumn grid trees have brightened up our classroom and corridors. We have also been learning about Ireland in Geography, working together in groups to create our own maps of Ireland. We explored counties, lakes, rivers and mountains while developing our teamwork and map-reading skills. PE has been another highlight, with the class enjoying basketball, developing their skills, teamwork and ability to play together. At break time, chess has also become a popular activity, with pupils enjoying challenging one another and developing their strategic thinking. We were also delighted to attend an Open Day with the Gardaí, where the children had the opportunity to take part in a range of different activities and learn more about the work of An Garda Síochána. It has been a wonderful first term filled with creativity, teamwork, learning and fun, and we are looking forward to all that the rest of the school year will bring!
