ICT

ICT

St. Canice’s BNS recognises that in our ever-changing world, there is a need to teach our children in the use of a range of digital technologies.  We have invested a significant amount of money in ICT projects over the past number of years.  We have been fortunate to have received ICT funding from the Department of Education.  We are also extremely lucky that our hard working Parents’ Association have been involved in fundraising for ICT over the years.

Most recently we have –

  • installed a new sound system and projector in the school hall
  • bought 28 iPads in a trolley that is used by classes
  • bought 28 laptops and a trolley that is used throughout the school
  • purchased 15 laptops for use in the SET Rooms
  • Upgraged our Wifi throughout the school
  • installed fibre broadband in the school
  • upgraded our networking equipment in the school

Please click on the images below to see what what we have recently invested in.

iPads

WiFi

We have recently installed new Wireless Access Points in classrooms to get our iPads and Laptops connected to our new High Speed Fibre Internet Connection

Networking Equipment

We have recently upgraded our internal school network to Gigabit connections to ensure that all our classrooms are ready for the future of ICT.

School Hall

We have recently installed a projector, screen and sound system in our Sports Hall.

Interactive Whiteboards

Each Classroom and two of our SET Rooms have Interactive Whiteboards, PCs and speakers.  Our Smartboards allow us to access a wide range of teaching resources and learning materials.  Our Smartboards have access to educational videos and images, learning and information websites as well as a wide range of interactive games that provide an almost infinite array of learning opportunities for our pupils.

We may look into replacing some of our Smartboards in the future to Interactive Panels.

Our internet is provided by the Department of Education’s Schools Broadband Services which provides security, firewalls and filtering services.
